Our Founder 

Roslyn Farrington is the founder of All About Community. She is currently a faculty member in Portland State University’s Women’s Studies Department. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education.  Roslyn is a seasoned teacher and trainer and has worked with students in settings ranging from high school, to university, to business.  

Since starting AAC Roslyn has worked with Oregon Tradeswomen Inc. to conduct women of color focus and support groups.  She has worked with In Other Words Books to plan, implement and facilitate a 2006-2007 Series of Community lectures entitled The Past in the Present: Women’s History/Today’s Realities.”  The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Oregon Council for the Humanities.  She also worked as the first Clinic Coordinator of North by Northeast Community Health Center over a six month period.  She set up their administration, planned the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, did community outreach, wrote policies and procedures and assisted with Board Strategic Planning.  She also served as the Interim Administrator for the Oregon Advocacy Commissions Office facilitating the work of Oregon Commissions on Asian Affairs, Black Affairs, Hispanic Affairs and the Commission for Women, including board development, outreach, event planning and administrative set up.

From 2000 - 2005 she served as the Executive Director of the Oregon Commission for Women. She has over 20 years of professional experience working with all levels of government, non-profit agency staff, the State Legislature and boards and commissions.

Roslyn’s mission, based on the philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is to build Beloved Community—a community based on unconditional love where all people have a voice.
